Vijayawada is one of the first cities in the country to have accessed funds under the JNNURM Project. The city has already been sanctioned a number of Projects in Water, Sewerage, Storm Water Drainage, BRTS, Slum Infrastructure and Housing.

Under the JNNURM, the "City on the Fast Track" has embarked on Mission 2008, to provide water and sewerage network in every street and basic civic infrastructure in all slums by end-2008. We hope to leverage the JNNURM Project in providing world class public transport for the citizens of Vijayawada. It is our endeavour to improve the quality of civic services and efficiency of its delivery through path-breaking reforms, innovative strategies, exploring the latest technologies and above all active public participation.
